b'Elijahs CupREADER:It is time to fill Elijahs cup with red wine (a good way to use up the Manischewitz!)We place it in the middle of the table and await the entrance of the prophet.Miriams CupEach person pours a little water from their individual glasses into Miriams cup to honor the prophet Miriam. Then we place it in the midde of the table, right next to Elijahs cup.ALL TOGETHER:Each one of us helps to fill this special cup with water and in so doing, we remember that legend tells us wherever in the desert we wandered, if Miriam was there, there was water.UrchatzHand WashingA pitcher of warm water, an empty bowl and a small towel are passed around the table. One person pours water over their neighbors hands, symbolically washing and then drying. It is customary to remain silent until the ritual is complete. It is sacred. It is holy. It feels ancient.A Passover Memory Finding Our BlessingI dont know Hebrew. I read the blessings in English, asking God to please find my blessings acceptable. This Passover, I ask God to bless the people like me who try. There should be a blessing for people who dance, even when they dont know the steps and feel embarrassed. There should be a blessing for people who feel unloved, and for those who feel suffocated. My kids are teenagers now, and any expression of love I make towards them is too much. I cant even hug my boy.13'
